Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mercedes-Benz Unimog for Sale in Arizona
Renowned American actor and former politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is widely recognized for his affinity for robust off-road vehicles equipped with exceptional capabilities. While his collection boasts numerous Mercedes G-Class and Hummer models, there’s a lesser-known gem in his possession – a 1977 Unimog U1300. Schwarzenegger undertook its restoration in 2012 at the Merex Mertec specialist facility in Gaggenau, Germany, tailoring it to his specific preferences. Surprisingly, after a brief two-year stint, Schwarzenegger parted ways with the silver off-roader. Fast forward to 2016, and ownership changed hands again. Now, this unique Unimog is up for grabs at a Barrett-Jackson auction scheduled for January 20-28 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Barrett-Jackson Auction House has excitingly revealed that the vehicle comes with a comprehensive file containing photographs, documentation, and certification. Adding a personal touch, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s signature graces the center console.
Unimog Elevated to Luxury
Distinguishing itself from other Unimog models, Schwarzenegger’s variant exudes luxury. Adorned with black leather upholstery, a Blaupunkt audio system, and a reversing camera, it mirrors the opulence of premium SUVs. The exterior showcases a robust bull bar, a front bumper-mounted winch, and additional Hella headlights. A solid black roll bar reinforces the flatbed, featuring a bench seat for thrill-seekers. The vehicle rides on inch wheels fitted with 445/65 tires and boasts air suspension on all corners.
Exclusive Schwarzenegger Modifications
Nestled beneath the hood is a 6.4-liter inline 6-cylinder turbodiesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, generating an impressive 320 PS. Notably, Schwarzenegger’s Unimog underwent modifications during the 2012 restoration. The original U1300 (Unimog 425) featured a 5.675-liter inline 6-cylinder engine producing a mere 125 PS. Paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and a 2-speed planetary gearbox, it offered a total of 8 gears. Additionally, there was a longer Unimog 435 version (U1300L) with a wheelbase of 3,850 mm compared to the standard 3,250 mm.
According to Barrett-Jackson, Schwarzenegger’s Unimog has a mere 2700 miles on the odometer, equivalent to approximately 4300 km, further enhancing its allure for prospective buyers. In the realm of off-road extravagance, Schwarzenegger’s Unimog stands as a testament to his unique style and penchant for power. As the silver off-roader seeks a new owner at Barrett-Jackson, one can’t help but reflect on Arnold’s immortal words, “I’ll be back,” echoing a legacy that transcends both the silver screen and the rugged terrains his prized possession once conquered.
